Let’s begin your journey: Maternity Photography

I’m passionate about documenting your whole story, from bump to tiny toes and beyond…

Whether you just found out about your new addition, or you are close to meeting your little one and feel you need to capture this fleeting season, you will find exactly what you need here.

Timing

The best time to book your maternity session is between 28-34 weeks. Now, every woman and pregnancy is different, but on average this is the sweet spot when the bump is bumping and you can still move around fairly comfortably. Your session will last between 45 minutes- 1 1/2 hrs depending on the needs of you and your family.

Location

Now that you have a timeframe pinned down, it’s time to discuss location! What type of location speaks to you? Is that the simple backdrop of a studio that lets you shine? Is that wandering through a flower field or a forest to connect you with nature? Or is that the comfort of your own home where you will raise your babies? The location you choose should speak to your soul and I’ve already done the ground work to help your decision:

Styling

Figuring out what to wear for a session can be so stressful. What colors and textures go well together? What looks good on my body? What should my kids wear? Well, I am here take away all of that stress. You have access to my client closet with over 50 dresses for moms and outfits for littles and my styling guide, as well as a complimentary style consult at my home office in Monroe. This allows you to try on outfits and feel confident going into your session. If you would prefer to use your own clothes I am always available for styling help over the phone!

Congratulations! Your baby is earth side: Newborn Photography

Our session will be centered around your new arrival with an emphasis on your family's lifestyle. We go with the flow of your newborn and any other littles in your family in order to create the most authentic, genuine memories to remember this precious time.

Timing

I recommend scheduling your newborn session for within the first two weeks after birth. This is the golden period when baby is still sleepy most of the time and let’s face it they will never be this little again! If you are not feeling ready in the first two weeks I get it! I have done newborn sessions up to two months old and these are just as sweet: Babe is more alert and you see so much more of their personality!

The session will be 2 - 2 1/2 hours long to accommodate baby’s needs, individual photos of your new little one as well as family oriented lifestyle portraits.

Location

A lifestyle newborn session is traditionally set in your home. This is the place you will raise your babies and to document that is such a precious gift. I use as much natural light as I can, but bring external lighting in case of dark scenarios (whether that be weather or lack of windows). If having me in your space sounds too stressful that is OK! There are two studios that I recommend for rental and you can check out those spaces here:

Styling

I will bring any and all of the dresses from my client closet you would like to try for your newborn sessions to your home for you to try. I also have a small selection of newborn outfits and will bring a wrap to swaddle babe. Generally we have time for about 2 - 3 outfit changes.
